What benefits does Medi Classic offer?

For In-patient: The hospitalization expenses including pre & post hospitalization expenses, day care procedures and domiciliary treatment are covered. The Sum insured is Rs 3 lacs and is fixed for both individual and family floater policies.

Non-Allopathic treatments: These are also covered subject to maximum of 25% of Sum Assured or Rs 25,000 every policy year.

Tax benefits: You can avail tax benefits under Section 80D to maximum amount of Rs 15,000. For senior citizens, the maximum amount is Rs 20,000.

Cumulative Bonus: If claim is not made, discounts ranging from 5%-25% are applicable.

Optional Coverage with Medi Classic: Medi Classic also has many optional add-ons so that client can customize the policy as per his needs and requirements. The optional covers that can be taken are: 

Hospital Cash: Additional cash is provided to take care of miscellaneous expenses. The maximum hospital cash per day is Rs 500 and cannot exceed Rs 3000 per policy year. It is applicable for person aged between 21 years and 60 years.

Patient Care: After the treatment at hospital, there is requirement for someone to attend the patient. Patient care provides Rs 400 per day after the patient is discharged from hospital for maximum of 5 days.

New Born Baby Cover: This provides cover for the baby till 5 months subject to maximum of 10% of Sum Assured of mother.

What is not covered in Star Health Medi Classic?

Medi Classic is typical health plan; there are some exclusions which are:



- Any illness diagnosed within 30 days of inception of policy is not covered, however accidental injuries will be covered

- There is 1 year waiting period for- Benign Prostrate, hypertrophy, hernia, hydrocele and related disorders

- There is 2 year waiting period for particular diseases like cataract, joint replacement etc

- The pre existing diseases will be covered after waiting period of 4 years of continuous coverage.

- Naturopathy treatment

- Treatment for internal and external congenital diseases

- Cosmetic treatments or plastic surgery

- Abuse of intoxicant things like alcohol or drugs

- Self inflicted injuries

- Investigative diagnostic treatments

- Act of war, nuclear war or radiation

There are few more exclusion’s which can be verified from the policy document.

Who can buy Medi Classic?

Medi Classic can be bought by anyone aged 5 months to 80 years. Medi Classic is available for both individual and as family floater plan. For people aged above 50 years, medical test is required and the cost will be borne by Star Health.
The Sum Assured available with individual Medi Classic begins from Rs 50,000 to maximum of Rs 1,000,000. The Sum Assured available for family floater is Rs 2 lacs and Rs 3 lacs.

How much premium for Medi Classic?

For person aged 20 years, with Sum Assured of Rs 3 lacs, Medi Classic premium would be Rs 3,300.

    suggest floter policy for family My self,spouse & 1 child of 4 yrs old ( 300000 amount)

    There are many family floater plans. You can go for Apollo Easy Health, Max Bupa Heartbeat. these plans are very comprehensive and cover against most things.
