Major USP of Swasthya Kavach: Optional Critical Illness cover

What benefits does Swasthya Kavach offer?


In-patient: Swasthya Kavach provides medical expenses incurred during hospitalization including pre and post hospitalization expenses and day care procedures.

Daily Cash Allowance: If the patient is hospitalized, daily cash will be paid for miscellaneous expenses.

Health Checkup: You are entitled to general health checkup if you do not make claim for four consecutive years.

Renewal Benefit: For every claim free year, there is 5% increase in the previous year Sum Assured and cannot exceed 50% of basic Sum Assured. In case of claim 10% will be deducted from the accumulated Sum Assured.

Discount: Family discount of 5% and 10% is available if two and three or more people are covered respectively.

Tax benefits: You can avail tax benefits under Section 80D to maximum amount of Rs 15,000. For senior citizens, the maximum amount is Rs 20,000.

IFFCO TOKIO has two options for customers: 

Base Plan:
  Swasthya Kavach base plan provides typical health insurance coverage. 

 Wider Plan: Swasthya Kavach has added benefits like health checkup and renewal bonus. A critical illness rider is available which pays twice the basic Sum Assured on diagnosis of the following 10 diseases- Paralytic Stroke, Cancer, Renal Failure, Coronary Artery Disease, Major Injuries, End Stage Liver Disease, Major Burns, Coma, Major Organ Transplant and Multiple Sclerosis.


What is not covered in IFFCO TOKIO Swasthya Kavach?


There are some exclusions in Swasthya Kavach which are:

 

Waiting Period

- Any illness diagnosed within 30 days of inception of policy is not covered, however accidental injuries will be covered

- There is one year waiting period for certain diseases like tonsillitis, gastric ulcer etc

- There is two year waiting period for certain diseases like cataract, hernia, hydrocele etc

- The pre existing diseases are not covered

Permanent Exclusions

- Treatment for HIV, genetic disorders and related diseases

- Treatment for internal and external congenital diseases

- Non allopathic treatments

- Cosmetic treatments or plastic surgery

- Abuse of intoxicant things like alcohol or drugs

- Experimental treatments

There are few more exclusion’s which can be verified from the policy document.

Who can buy Swasthya Kavach?


Swasthya Kavach can be bought by anyone aged 18 years to 60 years. Children from 91 days to 23 years can also be covered.
The Sum Assured available with Swasthya Kavach is Rs 2, 3, 4 and 5 lacs.

How much premium for Swasthya Kavach?


Mr. Chawla aged 30 buys IFFCO TOKIO Swasthya Kavach Base plan for his wife and two children with Sum Assured of Rs 2 lacs. The annual premium he has to pay is Rs 3,443 exclusive of service tax.
