Reliance General Insurance Co Ltd


Founded in 2001, Reliance General Insurance is non life insurance company headquartered in Mumbai. Reliance General is subsidiary of Reliance Capital – one of India’s largest financial services companies. It is also India’s first insurance company to be awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification across all functions, processes, products and locations pan-India.

Reliance General Product Portfolio:

Motor Insurance:
Motor Insurance provides cover for loss or damage to the vehicle as well as protects against third part liability. Reliance provides motor insurance for both car and two wheelers. Both can be purchased online.

Health Insurance: This covers the medical expenses during hospitalization. Reliance health plans are Individual Mediclaim Insurance Policy, HealthWise Policy, Critical Illness Policy, Reliance HealthWise Policy- Gold, Silver and Standard Plan.

Travel Insurance: These policies provide cover in case you are employed or travelling abroad. The typical coverage includes medical expenses, dental expenses, loss of passport or baggage, personal accident and many more. Travel Insurance plans of Reliance General are
Reliance Pravasi Bhartiya Bima Yojana Insurance Policy, Reliance Travel Care Insurance Policy – Asia, Reliance Travel Care Insurance Policy for Individuals and Families and Reliance Travel Care Insurance Policy – Schengen. Reliance has special plan for students travelling abroad for higher education. Most of these products can be purchased online.

Accident Cover Insurance: This provides cover in case policyholder is involved in injurious accident and suffers from disability or death.

Financial Information:

The total premium earned for the half year ended September 30, 2010 was Rs 5,641 million. The profit before tax for the same period is Rs 668 million. A total of 169,710 claims were made during the period out of which 83,043 claims were settled and 5,379 were rejected.

    Dear sir my claim number is 2091247514, my vehicle number is DL6CC7818,accident was held in the month of 14sep2009 till date no responce only I face a lot of problemb some time this documents some time that documents,,,,At last finally claim person is saying we will not give you any compansation firstly i will inform you if you people not give me responce i will go to media,and consumer court regards imran 9818145354

    Hi Imran
    Every insurance company provides you with a reason for denying a claim. If you are unsatisfied with the reason, you can contact ombudsman. Or you can also contact IRDA, the governing body, to get your grievance addressed. They can direct the insurer to pay the claim if found genuine.

    Dear Sir I want to insure my 2 year old Chevrolet Aveo which i bought second hand last year. Transfer of registration has been done in my name. I live in bhopal MP.the existing insurance expires on 16th aug. which company is having good reputation for customer care and hassle free settlemtents of claims.

    The claim settlement is usually smooth if you follow the insurer's guidelines. However you can save quite a much on premium amount since it varies across insurers. You can make comparison from the following link:
