Buying Health Insurance Online:

Health insurance is very vital and as such is one of the most important decisions that should be considered thoroughly before making the purchase. There are more than 15 health insurers with wide range of insurance products that makes buying insurance extremely complicated. It’s not practical to read each and every product brochure. Neither can you blind pick since it’s your health (or your family) that we are talking about. Nor can you choose a plan which your friend recommended as every one’s need & requirements varies.

There is simple solution to all these complications and that is buying online. The major USP of buying online is:

- You can compare insurance premium or quotes

- You can decide what benefits would suit you more

- Impartial reviews of health insurance products

Hi R. Sehmi, We will be publishing our understanding on Health Insurance Portability by today evening. A quick take - IRDA has indeed released its regulation on Health Insurance Portability to be in effect from 1st July 2011. From 1st Jul 2011, one can change his/her health insurer, and still not lose the benefits he/she would have received had he continued with the same insurer. Such benefits include pre-existing diseases coverage, other loyalty bonuses etc. This is a pro-consumer move by IRDA, and will definitely be helpful on several counts. Markets will open further, become more competitive. Product innovation will increase, (somewhere product standardization may take control as well). Definitely, services to the consumer will take a flight. More on this by evening. Thanks.
